We all went to Bryant's parent's house for a big family Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange (one of their family traditions that they welcomed us into years ago), and we knew that B wanted to wait to propose until after we got back home. This meant that he would wait the entire day. This was hilarious for those of us who were "in the know", because we saw him sweat it out as the hours passed by. They actually drove home alone in Bryant's truck, and us kids drove separately and took bets on if he would propose before we even got home.
Luckily for Bryant, he was able to make it through ANOTHER gift exchange when we got home (despite a half hour search for a missing present). Then, he asked Delyn to take a quick picture of the two of them in front of the Christmas tree. While Delyn snapped away, Bryant nervously pulled a ring out of his pocket. When he got down on one knee, he proudly held out a ring pop. And what do you know? She said YES to the ring pop! While she was busy putting the candy ring on her finger and showing all of us, Bryant managed to pull another ring out of his other pocket. It is a beautiful ring with a beautiful story! It is a past, present, and future ring which is why there are three, large diamonds (who doesn't want more diamonds?). On each side of these are four more diamonds which symbolize each of their kids. Pretty awesome. He did good! Of course mom said yes (I mean, she was fine with a candy ring for goodness sake), and we spent some time celebrating with the whole crew.
Before the proposal, I bought some photo props knowing that a group photo would be in order. We wanted to include a few, personalized props. We had a hard time coming up with a second sign in addition to "She said yes!", so in the midst of the craziness I told Mallory to jot down "#christmasmiracle" as a joke that it would be a miracle if Bryant made it through the night with the big surprise intact. HE DID, and we are all so glad. It was a wonderful night, and we are all thrilled for a wedding in the future!
The photos were all snapped by my husband who is amazing at capturing memories; keep an eye out for the second part to this blog with some engagement photos of these two lovebirds :)
