1) Pick an aspect of photography (light, mood, etc.) and focus solely on that for the whole shoot.
2) Edit the photos manually, without presets.
We had no plans of taking photos today, but on the way to church I pointed out the "moody" clouds I always tell Delyn I want to photograph and by the time we left the clouds were still beautifully emo. We ran home so I could grab my camera, and I was sure it would: a) storm or b) clear up before we made it to the location. But thankfully it did not. It was cloudy and windy-- perfect for what I envisioned. Delyn was a really good sport. It's not very easy to get him to stand/sit still, but he humored me and helped me through a few challenges along the way.
Now for a chance to really brag on my man-- I was only able to edit the photos the same day because he offered to go to the grocery store for me. Ladies, you know how fantastic it is to get a week away from grocery madness. And he got everything on the list (in all the brands we normally get). I think all my couple friends out there can understand what a big victory that is.
I'm not sure he believed that I edited the photos without presets, but I proudly brought it to his attention. Full disclosure: he made a few, small tweaks (I'm talking minor, people) but that's the beauty of having a photographer for a husband-- I get professional eyes on my work before I throw it out there for the world to see. Minor enhancements, but they gave me the confidence to share this session. Hope you enjoy!
