amazing moments caught on film of their engagement, but the coolest thing is
seeing how much of a story the short series reveals. This was by far the neatest,
most genuine, and precious series of pictures I've ever taken, and there are so
special because these two have the greatest hearts. I’m so glad this special day
was captured, thanks Marty for letting me be paparazzi for a night!
I've lived with Meghan for the past few years, and have known her most of my
life as my little sister's best friend. She plays soccer for Texas A&M (yes, she's
superstar), hence the proposal on Ellis Field. Living with Meghan I've seen
how sweet her relationship with Marty is. More important than anything else,
it is evident that their relationship is Christ-centered, and their ultimate
purpose and intentions are to glorify God and do amazing work for His Kingdom together.
Without sharing any personal details of the beautiful proposal that Marty
set up, you can see in the pictures that he put a lot of thought and planning
into the details of the day by involving both families, their close friends, and
incorporating their shared interests and memories. Meredith and I were in charge
of keeping Meghan distracted during the day, which was hilarious but a really
neat chance to spend some time with Meghan. A moment I’d like to share was
that at lunch, Meghan prayed before our meal, and as she always does, she asked
God to bless our day and let everything we do be for His glory. I can’t explain
what a cool feeling it was knowing what Marty had up his sleeve, and the
blessings to come! We spent the day feeding ducks and turtles and trying not
to let anything slip, even though we were awkward as could be (mostly Meredith).
Meghan got ready for what she thought was a date night, and showed up
to Ellis Field with her parents who escorted her, and the rest of her family
and friends hiding out in the press box. She might kill me for saying this,
but Marty nailed it with the emotional build up—the girl doesn’t cry, and
we received messages before she even arrived that she was getting emotional.
It was awesome (love you Meghan!) and it just showed how genuine and
precious their love truly is for each other. The story picks up right where the
pictures begin, with Marty and Meghan sitting on Kyle Field just
the two of them, Bible in one hand, holding hands with the other, and a very
emotional proposal followed. After she said yes, everyone filed out of the press
box and the congratulations and celebration followed.
It's crazy, because I've known Meghan as the tough, sporty kid growing up, but
she's grown up to become a young woman that I really admire. They are an awesome
example of what it means to pursue God first and foremost, and a reminder for
the rest of us that there is more to a proposal than pretty rings and wedding
planning(don’t get me wrong: these are fun and necessary!). Instead of focusing
on each other though, Meghan and Marty both posted beautiful statuses praising
God for His faithfulness and sharing their excitement to better the kingdom
together. Cue my tears. Yall are awesome; thank you for the reminder that this
kind of love exists, that putting God first will lead to favor and blessings and
glory for His Kingdom to come.
